Scratch My Neck Collective

we gather to scratch a theatrical itch

The Scratch my Neck Collective is a group of fabulous artists and actors who all have a curious theatrical itch. So, in addition to their various interesting jobs, we gather together to help each other scratch this theatrical itch.

Part of the challenge of being an artist in New York City is the need to balance working (probably multiple jobs) with investing enough time honing one's craft. But since we are not alone in this challenge, we decided that the practice of cold reading a play would help us invest in one another as a community and also expose us to the vast universe of plays both old and new.

Theatre is as much an event as it is a personal practice in my life.  I choose the plays during my personal research and practice of familiarizing myself with as many playwrights and theater-makers as possible.  The plays I bring the collective always spark personal interest but also tend to spark deeper conversations about a wide range of content from play structure to narrative plot points,  to how much fun it was to just try new things.
